Tactile Mathematics

Project Overview

This is a series of ten ceramic sculptures exploring the transformation of mathematics into art. The project begins with two-dimensional geometric shapes that are precise and structured, and reimagines them as three-dimensional organic forms. The ten sculptures represent different stages of this visual transformation, questioning how something governed by logic and structure can become expressive, tactile, and organic. The project is ultimately an exploration of how mathematical forms can move beyond their original boundaries and become something felt as much as understood.

Workflow

Clay becomes the final stage of the transformation. Through modelling, shaping, and the unpredictability of the material, the once-rigid geometry is given weight, texture, movement, and a sense of life. The process creates a dialogue between precision and imperfection, mathematics and nature.
