Stop Motion Animation
Workflow
This project explores the relationship between scale, architecture, animation, and movement through a stop-motion film. I created a miniature cardboard replica of a real building, transforming the architecture into a physical map that could be explored by a clay character.
The clay character moves through the miniature building, following a carefully designed route and discovering different details and spaces along the way. Each movement within the model corresponds to a path that exists within the real building. In this way, the animation acts as a rehearsal of a journey through real space.
Through this process, the project investigates how a familiar physical environment can be understood differently when reduced to a miniature scale, and how an imaginary animated journey can be translated back into a real-life experience.
